Mears takes over for Steigerwald

Root Sports announced today that they’ve hired 37-year-old Steve Mears to become the play-by-play announcer for the Pittsburgh Penguins beginning next season. Mears will work along side Bob Errey who returns for his 14th season. That means Paul Steigerwald is out, but he isn’t going far. He will become a part of the Pens’ in-house media team. He will be part of pre- and post-game radio shows and appear at team-related events in the community.
