Notable departure and update
September 26, 2025We note the departure later today of Nicole Ford from WPXI-TV. Ford, who was recently married, has spent ten years in the reporting field. The Pittsburgh area native started out at a couple of regional stations before landing at KDKA-TV and the last few years at WPXI. She told followers of her social media that the last 10 years have been rewarding, but she is stepping away from the microphone “for now.” She has not yet divulged what she is planning to do.
The awards really say it all… and one local anchor who was recently let go has every right to be cynical about it. Former KDKA-TV anchor, Kym Gable, was the recipient of a regional Emmy Award as the 5:00 p.m. newscast was voted Best Evening Newscast in the Mid-Atlantic Emmy Chapter. She admitted on her social media that she was on her couch in sweatpants eating leftovers while her former cohorts were at the event in Philadelphia.
UPDATE: Thanks to an alert reader, we understand Nicole Ford will be starting a new position Monday as Director of Public Relations for the Washington County Board of Commissioners.
