Radio PA to shut down

January 11, 2019 Off By Eric O'Brien

Affiliates received notice dated January 1 that the statewide news service, Radio PA will cease operation on April 15. Based at WITF in Harrisburg, they have produced and distributed state news from across Pennsylvania with special emphasis on the governor’s office and activity at the state capitol building.

The letter noted the dramatic change in media landscape – the decrease in household landline phones; the decrease in printing newspapers, etc. “Consumer habits continually migrate towards the ‘I want it the way I want it and I want it now.’ On demand is the order of the day.”

“…it has become painfully apparent that the statewide news network model is no longer sustainable.”
