  • KDKA-FM (93.7) announced last Friday that Chris Mack will be hosting the pre- and post-game shows for Pirates baseball coverage beginning this season. Mac already serves as the host of “Bucco Talk”, a weekly program on the station. Jack Zduriencik will work alongside Mack.
  • Laurel Highland Total Communications (LHTC) as long had business interests and cable, Internet, and most recently radio. However, according to Pat Cloonan of the Mon Valley Herald-Standard the company now has an interest in a miniature golf center in Donegal. LHTC has owned WCNS (1480 Latrobe) and in 2016 purchase WAVL (910 Apollo) and an accompanying FM translator. The company’s most recent radio acquisition was an FM translator in Williamson, West Virginia for which it paid $50,000. LHTC will be moving the FM translator to 95.7 in Morgantown to retransmit a recently acquired AM station, WMMN (920) out of Fairmont. Other stations included in that deal included WTCS, WRLF-FM, and WCST-FM.
  • Cloonan, whose article can be seen online if you have a subscription to the Mon Valley Herald-Standard, also briefly noted the return of WGBN (1360 McKeesport) and the FCC fines it faces for towers in disrepair. Meanwhile Cloonan told PBRTV that he has received reports, as have we, that 1360 doesn’t appear to be on the air all of the time – sporadic at best.
