With the start of the new fiscal year on October 1, WQED Multimedia announced new board personnel at its annual meeting on September 28. Tom McGough, the Executive Vice President and chief legal officer for UPMC, was approved unanimously for a second one-year term as chair of the Board of Directors. Additionally, Mildred S Myers was named vice chair and secretary; Nancy Bromall Barry is vice chair and treasurer; James Singer was named vice chair; and Deborah Acklin retains her role as president and CEO. The meeting also saw the election of two board members to three-year terms and six new members of the Community Advisory Board.

The station also announced the premiere of several new programs and new seasons of programs. This includes the latest Rick Sebak offering for which funds were raised through a Kickstarter campaign earlier this year. The first episode of “Nebby: Rick Sebak’s Tales of Greater Pittsburgh” will premiere on October 5 at 8 o’clock in the evening with “A Short History of Route 88”. Seven more episodes will be produced and aired periodically through May of next year.
