Wright announces retirement

WTAE morning anchor Michelle Wright has announced her retirement from the station effective at the end of February, 2026. Wright joined the station in 1994 as morning anchor, but has had anchoring roles in all news time slots during her 30+ year career. An award-winning journalist, she has also worked as an adjunct professor at Point Park University.

“Reaching this decision to step away has been bittersweet. It has been a thrill to work alongside some of the best journalists in the business and I look forward to supporting this news team as a viewer for years to come,” Wright said. “I’m grateful for my time here, but most of all I’m honored the viewers of western Pennsylvania trusted me every day to tell their stories.”
