September 10, 2011 Off By Eric O'Brien

WTAE-TV (4) has hired meteorologist Ray Petelin for weekend evenings. Petelin has been doing fill-in work at the station over the last few weeks and rumors started circulating that the station would hire him. He is from Ashtabula, Ohio and has just finished a stint at WICU/WSEE-TV in Erie. He has also served as producer, anchor and assignment editor at stations in Cleveland, Youngstown and Parkersburg.

Also, in addition to the station making its anchor changes this coming week, viewers will see a change to the weekend newscast schedule. Beginning Sunday, ABC World News will air at 6:00 p.m. with WTAE’s local news airing at 6:30. The same will happen on Saturdays beginning December 10 when college football concludes its season.
