Audacy to acquire WAMO format

March 22, 2022 Off By Eric O'Brien

Audacy Pittsburgh announced this morning that the company is acquiring the WAMO urban format from Martz Communications Group. That means under a Local Marketing Agreement, Audacy will take over the programming of WAMO-AM (660 Wilkinsburg) and its FM translator W297BU (107.3 Pittsburgh) effective April 4. The format will continue.

There is no word on why the move is being made, but this is not the first time Audacy and Martz Communications have worked together. WAMO’s first translator was W261AX (100.1 Pittsburgh) which has been carrying KDKA-AM (1020)* since November 2, 2020. Martz Communications’ licensee, Radio Power, continues to hold on to the license for the translator.

*FCC database research (in two places) currently shows W261AX being a translator for KDKA-FM (93.7).
