Facebook Live post gets a visit from police

KDKA-TV reporter Meghan Schiller was doing a Facebook Live video on Thursday while covering the road collapse involving Route 30 in East Pittsburgh. Social media posts like these are not uncommon among reporters, but not everybody is aware of how it works. About 5 minutes in, a North Versailles policeman pulls up and says a passerby saw a crazy woman talking to herself in the Great Valley Shopping Center. Schiller initially thought he was kidding, but took it in stride. Here’s the video…

Milestones

My cow-orker at Broadcast Communications, Inc., Michael J. Daniels, informed me that the month of April marks a significant milestone in his radio career. He started at WESA (98.3 Charleroi) in April 1978. Although he hasn’t always worked in radio, it is still worthy of a mention.

Meanwhile, this webmaster celebrates 21 years since becoming an intern at Renda Broadcasting on April 14.

That leaves cow-orker Bill Korch who hasn’t revealed the precise number of years he’s been in the biz.

Sympathy

On a serious note, although not really a WWE fan, I can’t let the passing of “Luscious” Johnny Valiant go unmentioned. Valiant, whose real name was Thomas Sullivan, was a quiet and unassuming neighbor of the “PBRTV World Headquarters”. He died Wednesday after being hit by a car as a pedestrian on McKnight Road in Ross Township. We wish the family the sincerest sympathy during this difficult time.
