Fredericks wins delegate election

It looks as though Allegheny County resident John Fredericks has won the opportunity to represent District 17 at the Republican National Convention being held this summer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Does Fredericks’ name ring a bell? It should. He is the owner of Disruptor Radio and, along with his wife, moved to this area in July 2023 to be closer to his son who is a pitcher for West Virginia University. Fredericks was the leading vote getter in the Allegheny County district with just over 20,000 votes.

Disruptor Radio is the largest independent conservative news-talk radio network and Fredericks, who hosts the eponymous morning drive talk show on the network, boasts that he was the first talk host to endorse Donald Trump for president leading up to the 2016 election. Meanwhile Disruptor recently closed on buying WJFA (910 Apollo; 98.7 W254CR Latrobe) and WJFG (1480; 107.5 W298DH Latrobe) from Steve Clendenin’s Maryland One Media.

Those who may be questioning whether or not a radio station owner holding a delegate position is against regulation, PBRTV hypothesizes that since it really is not an “office” per se, the same rule may not apply in this case. We have to dig deeper for this information, but it’s past our bedtime.
