Holy Week Roundup…

April 3, 2026 1 By Eric O'Brien

When you work as a church administrator, Holy Week is your marathon. When you cover local radio happenings during Holy Week, however, the happenings (and just about everything else in life) take a back seat until we’re sure the weekend’s events are underway. They are… so here I am!

I was shocked, but not shocked to read this morning of the sale of Forever Media’s WKPL (92.1 Ellwood City, PA). The $350,000 transaction was with Family Life Ministries who will convert the license to non-comm and, no doubt, put their flavor of “fire and brimstone” on the air. The move is the latest in Forever Media’s relinquishment of stations and employees across the region in order to stay afloat. (Radio Insight)

Audacy is creating an unhappy Easter for employees by releasing some long-term employees throughout the country. Once again the cuts have affected Pittsburgh with Maria D’Antonio’s unscheduled departure. D’Antonio has mainly done middays on WDSY (107.9) for 10 years. But some of that time she was also the afternoon drive host on WBZZ (100.7 New Kensington). Prior to Y108 she did mornings at WLTJ (92.9). She plans to spend time with her family and hints that her time in radio may have met its end. (Radio Insight)
