iHeart has been doing its all too frequent national clean out over the last week or so…

36 years and you’re just thrown out the door? For someone who was as involved in the community as Mike is, this is absolutely ludicrous!
Except the bean counters who made the decision aren’t in Pittsburgh… and all they’re interested in is keeping their private equity hedge fund firm happy…
Been listening to Mike since he took over for Bumper all those years ago and kept listening not for the music but for the voice, the friend, the pro that he is. I now understand what you guys mean when you say cheap channel, Ihate radio among other things. Merkel, Sherry, and now Mike. All parts of my day are ruined. God bless you Mike and Elyse in whatever comes next and hope to hear your voice again soon.
I’m surprised iHeartMedia hasn’t switched to a DJ-less format at this point, like a lot of digital music services like Spotify. Even XM Satellite Radio was DJ-less 20 years ago. (SiriusXM having DJ’s now is a carryover from the Sirius side of the merger.) Then again, should I give them any ideas?
Soon, deejays should be coming back, for the stations that want them. AI DJs. It’s a field that’s being vigorously worked on by the software companies that serve radio.
Personality radio will be back, and ‘localism’ too!
