Oh, hi there!

I’m sure many readers have wondered, but I am still here! I’m not going to miss this site’s 25th anniversary on October 21… no way!

Life here at the PBRTV World HQ has kept me busy. We’re doing a little home redecorating and such. And by “we”, I do mean my bride-to-very-soon-be (December… but we’re not revealing the date… you have a 1 in 31 chance of getting it right… and this is just part 1) and two dogs and two cats, all of whom have taken up residence here, and me! We couldn’t be more happy!

The bulk of the renovations should be completed by week’s end and attention to the site will likely return to the normal level… whatever that is!

That said…

  • A couple of weeks ago, WQED-TV (13; DT 4), reduced its signal in order to operate within the paramenters of the station’s license. Robert Bowe, the new managing director of engineering and technology, made the discovery recently. Over the air viewers are encouraged to rescan their TVs frequently to make sure they are getting the best possible signals. WQED will look into options to cover certain regions that have been affected by this drop in transmission power. However, most options – including a “single frequency network (SFN)”, or applying to the FCC to operate with increased power, are things than can happen quickly.
  • WKHB-FM (103.9) changed its city of license from Scottdale to Uniontown on September 29. Broadcast Communications, Inc. owns the station which was WLSW until 2017 when they bought the station. The transmitter remains on Springfield Pike in Connellsville which is also the old site of the radio station itself.
