Poister retires
July 17, 2026Calling today “Finale Friday”, the well-traveled John Poister will hang up his headphones this evening after a 56-year career. His last newscast will be on WHJB (107.1 Greensburg) at 6:00. In a social media post, Poister acknowledges many including John Bride who hired him not long after the purchase of WMBA in Ambridge for summer relief.
Poister’s positions have mainly been focused in news departments in Pittsburgh and surrounding area including the “big 3” TV stations (KDKA, WTAE, and WPXI) and the beginning days of the 10:00 news on WPGH-TV (53) in 1996.
