81-year-old Richard “Dick” Clouser died on March 9 of this year. If the name doesn’t seem familiar, perhaps you are familiar with some of his work. An Altoona native, Clouser’s first job was as an accountant at Price-Waterhouse in Pittsburgh. In 1970, according to his obituary, he started a new career and with two business partners in tow, he opened Television Production Center (TPC) and served as its first president.

Some of TPC’s productions included Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, Captain Kangaroo, and Picture Pages. The company also duplicated syndicated television programs and remote broadcasts of sporting events. It eventually went public being traded on the OTC Marketplace.

Clouser remained in television production and did stints at KBL Sports Network and Unitel Video.
