Rehkopf hanging up headphones

PBRTV hears that former KDKA-AM morning newsman Bill Rehkopf who bounced between Washington, D.C. and Pittsburgh before ending up at CBS Radio News will be hanging up his headphones. Rehkopf posted to social media this afternoon saying, “On Saturday, December 7, 1985, I cracked the mic for the very first time, doing the country show on Clarion University’s WCUC-FM. I will open that mic one final time Monday morning, filling in for John Trout as host of Westwood One’s “America In The Morning” program, wrapping up nearly four decades in radio. On to much greater things, but bittersweet to leave behind a vocation I loved. But it’s time. Onward! Life is good today…”

You can hear America in the Morning on WJAS-AM (1320) Monday-Friday 8:00 – 9:00 a.m.

UPDATE: Bill Rehkopf checked in with PBRTV late last night. Thanks for the love, Eric. I start this week as the Director of Comms and Marketing for the International Association of Fire Chiefs. Had a great run on the air, and blessed to do it in my hometown!
