KDKA-AM (1020; W261AX 100.1) afternoon anchor Melinda Roeder gave her last newscast on the station Wednesday. Roeder has been with KD since 2017, first as a reporter but then took over for Rose Ryan-Douglas who retired in 2021.

She is moving on to WTAJ-TV (10 Altoona) where she will become news director. In addition to this move, she is now “Doctor Melinda”, having recently defended her PhD dissertation in Strategic Media.

Roeder has also worked as an educator serving young minds as an instructor of communications at Waynesburg University. “I am fortunate to still be able to pursue my unique career path in BOTH news and education, which I see as essentially the same,” she said in a Facebook post. She plans to continue teaching in an adjunct role.
