As we proceed into the weekend, here are some things you should know.

  • A few weeks ago, PBRTV told you about some financial shortcomings at Pittsburgh Community Broadcasting due to the rising costs of programming, whether local or network produced. Yesterday, the non-comm company who operate WESA (90.5) and WYEP (91.3) announced that after Friday, August 4, The Confluence wll cease production for WESA. The broadcast team of Kevin Gavin, Marylee Williams, and Laura Tsutsui will depart with a severance packqage negotiated through the SAG/AFTRA Union*. Nick Wright, a content manger for WYEP has also been let go.
  • Ally Bair is leaving WKST-FM (96.1) as of this weekend. Bair has been with the station since 2018 – first in sales; then with an evening on-air gig. In her post on social media, Bair says the job was a joy, “but her heart is not in it” anymore and is off to pursue other interests.
