Salem Media to be acquired and taken off stock market

According to Radio Ink and others, the Christian Community Foundation (d/b/a WaterStone) plans acquire the outstanding shares of Salem Media Group which locally owns WORD-FM (101.5); WPIT (730), and WPGP (1250). Shares will be purchased for $1.00 each which is about a 250% valuation over a recent trading price. Salem’s Board of Directors has approved the move unanimously with the intent to close in August 2026 subject to necessary approvals.

There’s likely no reason the deal won’t be approved. WaterStone has held nearly 50% voting interest in Salem via preferred stock investments. The two firms have also collaborated on strategies over the last year to 18 months. It also seems likely the stations within Salem will carry their current programming after the sale.
