Chris Shovlin, the voice of Robert Morris University’s football and basketball play-by-plays for 37 years has been selected for induction to Pennsylvania Broadcaster’s Hall of Fame next month in Harrisburg. Speaking of the recognition, Shovlin tells Benz, “it’s beyond my wildest dreams.”

Shovlin will join Hillgrove and Ray Goss who were both inducted the Hall of Fame last year. Goss has 56 years of service as Duquesne University’s basketball announcer making him the longest-tenured mens basketball broadcaster in all of NCAA Division I. With Hillgrove continuing as Pitt’s announcer and Shovlin continuing at Robert Morris, all three will be enshrined while still working for their respective teams.

Chris Shovlin has not only been a sports announcer throughout the years, the Midland, Beaver County native and Westminster College grad has history in other radio roles. He’s been on the air at WMBA Ambridge, was the VP and general manager at WBVP-AM/WWKS-FM Beaver Falls, on-air personality and news anchor at Renda Broadcasting owned WJAS-AM/WSHH-FM. He has also worked in education as an adjunct instructor at Geneva College. Most recently he’s served as the planning committee spokesperson at Midland Innovaction & Tecnology Charter School and as CEO at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center.
