Unscientific results of recent survey
March 13, 2026A couple of weeks ago, I put out a survey asking for your favorite Pittsburgh radio stations and favorite jocks/announcers/teams — past or present. Forty of you responded. Unfortunately, Google’s system isn’t quite intelligent enough to recognize that “kdka” is the same as “KDKA,” so the results came in a little wonky.
Because of that, the survey had to wait until I had time to go through and count things with my own intellect — such as it is.
One thing I found interesting was that most respondents chose their favorite personality from the same station they listed as their favorite. A few of you, however, listed a station followed by a personality who was never affiliated with that station. That’s perfectly fine — there were no right or wrong answers.
Here are the results:

Thank you to everyone who participated in this completely unofficial survey. A new one will be posted soon!

Sorry I missed your survey! I would have voted for Tony Mowod, jazz DJ on WYDD-104.7 years ago, then on WDUQ-90.5!
I voted for WDVE and the Honsman. I didn’t agree with his politics but he was entertaining to listen to with my dad in the car when he picked me up from school. (My dad to this day doesn’t agree with his politics, either.) I think his unique local perspective–specifically, the episode where they actually debated whether or not a yield sign and a stop sign were the same thing–is what endeared Fred Honsberger to Yinzers even if they didn’t necessarily agree with him. I can only imagine what he would do today with the current political landscape.
