Benson charged with DUI
November 6, 2019WPXI-TV weekend meteorologist was charged driving under the influence back in September. The Post-Gazette reports that Mr. Benson, age 60, was pulled over in Washington County where his blood alcohol content was reportedly 4 times the legal limit and an inactive cocaine metabolite in his blood.
Benson told the PG, “All I can tell you is I’ve been on radio and TV for 40 years and I’ve been with [WPXI] since 1987; I made a mistake and I’m hoping they’ll be understanding. I’ve never had a bit of trouble in all these years.”
The incident happened along Interstate 70 in Cecil Township on September 20. Benson told the trooper that he was visiting his wife at the hospital and had a drink earlier that day.
WPXI management did not comment.
Never knew he was on radio. Always remember him teamed with Dennis Bowman on PCNC on Saturday mornings.
He did a short stint on WTAE radio.
