Pompeani celebrates 40 years at KDKA

He set out to be a pro golfer, but at age 16 health issues put a fast end to that opportunity. With the encouragement of his father, Bob Pompeani became a sports journalist and broadcaster. A graduate of Hopewell High School and Point Park College (now University), his career in sports broadcasting started as an intern at KDKA-TV (2) before being hired fulltime in 1982. And he’s been there ever since – something practically unheard of in broadcasting! Over the years, Pompeani has won numerous awards – sports and non-sports related – and has worked with numerous charities. He is a true family man, but you can still find him out on the golf course pretty regularly.

KDKA is celebrating his career (so far) with a special presentation called, “Pompeaniversary: 40 Years at KDKA”, set to air on Saturday, July 9 at 7:30 p.m.

This past Saturday, KDKA’s “Fan N’ATion” season finale featured “Pomp” as they visited his own Fan Cave.
